Before quarantine began, my days were typically spent drinking overpriced iced matcha lattes during lectures, studying for hours in a crowded library, or going on boozy brunch dates on Melrose. Flash forward a month later, and now we’re all at home, living in a strange reality of social distancing rules and self-isolation.
This pandemic has forced us all to take a pause in our everyday lives. It has slowed down our routines, cancelled major events and created mass feelings of anxiety in many of us. While I know this is a stressful and unfortunate time for everyone, staying home is essential. Social distancing is the best way to end COVID-19 and prevent ourselves and the people we love from getting sick.
Though this situation sucks, we gotta still work through it! Here are some tips I’ve been following to remain productive and accomplish my tasks during quarantine.
CREATE A CONSISTENT SCHEDULE
While not everyday requires a strict hour-by-hour schedule, for the days where you need to get shit done, creating a schedule for the day can help you accomplish your tasks and stay on track. Here’s an example of my weekday schedule:
EAT A FULL BREAKFAST

Steel oats with bananas, brown sugar and nuts
Give yourself something to look forward to when you wake up. I enjoy starting my day with an iced chai tea latte or hot oolong tea with honey, and a bowl of steel oats, topped with fruit and brown sugar.
You can also try making the highly popular coffee dalgona beverage that everyone on the internet has been raving about! My sister and I made this frothy coffee drink and she’s now obsessed with it. Warning – It’s SUPER caffeinated!
CHANGE UP YOUR WORK SPACE
Leave your bed and try working in a different room of the house. It’s best to work in a place with a table, natural sunlight and minimal distractions.
GET READY IN THE MORNING
Personally, I think putting on makeup is therapeutic. Even though you’re staying home all day, changing up your hair or going through the steps of your normal makeup routine could be a huge productivity booster. Also, try not to work in the same clothes you slept in. I’m not saying you have to throw on a pair of jeans, but simply changing out of your pajama shorts and into a new pair of sweatpants could be helpful.
STEP AWAY FROM YOUR LAPTOP
Walk away from your laptop and take time to rest your wrists. Though we’re in quarantine, health officials still encourage everyone to take walks and appreciate the fresh air outside. If you want to stay indoors, try following a yoga tutorial, learn a Tik Tok dance or read a book.
