Holy Matcha is an Instagrammable heaven for those who love pink and all things matcha. Located in San Diego, this trendy tea room features an entirely matcha based drink menu and organic, gluten-free snacks like avocado toast.
I went to the North Park location and instantly fell in love with the shop’s vibe. Walking in, the store was playing Frank Ocean and a line of people were taking pictures in front of the flower-filled window.
Holy Matcha is decorated in chic touches, from the pink and green palm tree wallpaper to the marble tables and pink velvet couches; every corner is picture perfect.
But if you’re looking for drinks to satisfy your sweet tooth or a solid brunch spot, this may not be the place for you.
I ordered a matcha latte with coconut milk and a strawberry donut. It’s worth noting that Holy Matcha is completely dairy-free.
My drink wasn’t that sweet, but I didn’t mind, since it paired well with my donut. However, my friend’s drink was gross. She ordered a matcha lemonade and it tasted bland and watery. Though it was pretty, it wasn’t worth $7.
Overall, Holy Matcha is a must-try for its aesthetics, but if you’re looking for quality matcha, try somewhere else.
