Rowland Heights, California is home to over 50 boba shops, according to Yelp. You can find a boba shop in nearly every plaza or shopping center in this city. With an abundance of options to choose from, it can feel overwhelming to pick the perfect one to satisfy your craving. To help you out, here are three of the most trendy and Instagram-worthy boba shops to check out the next time you’re in Rowland Heights.

If you’re a matcha lover, Sip Matcha is the place for you. Founded by comedic Youtube group, Jk Films, this shop specializes in handcrafted matcha drinks. As a fan of matcha, Sip Matcha is one of my go-to boba spots. Their boba is warm, soft and sweet, as boba should be! Their menu is always changing, so I try to get a different drink every time I go. My personal favorite is the watermelon matcha milk tea, but its seasonal.
Not only is Sip Matcha cute, but the shop is also environmentally conscious. They encourage sustainability by selling reusable straws and using real dairy from local farms, instead of non-dairy creamers and artificial powders. They do offer milk substitutes, but don’t expect to find almond milk; Producing almonds is bad for the environment.

The Alley, located in Diamond Plaza, opened its Rowland Heights location just this year, but it’s already a popular spot for boba lovers who can appreciate a sophisticated aesthetic. Walking in, you’re welcomed by black-painted walls, gold accent decorations and their signature deer theme, thats not only showcased in the interior and cups, but in the drink names as well.
Their most popular drink is the brown sugar deerioca fresh milk. It’s sweet and creamy, though my friend describes their boba as a bit “rubbery”.
Also, this place does tend to become packed, if you’re able to snag a couch or chair and an outlet, The Alley can be a great place to study. It has a studious ambience, with chill music playing on its speakers and plenty of seating. Spacious and instagrammable, The Alley is definitely worth checking out.

Tea Brick is a must-visit for its fruit drinks, adorable bottles and dog wall art. This shop is located next to the popular all-you-can-eat korean BBQ chain, Red Castle. Though the shopping center its in holds 3 other boba shops, Tea Brick is superior for its unique drinks and desserts. It’s a bit pricey, but every drink comes in a reusable bottle with dog art, so I think it’s worth the extra money.
Tea Brick is a great place to chat with friends over brick toast and milk tea. It’s also open until 1 AM on weekends.
