Life can be exhausting, which is why practicing self-care is so important. Scheduling a time during the busy week to unwind, throw on a pair of sweatpants and check in with yourself is beneficial for the mind and soul. As for essentials, a hot cup of tea is a must-have! Here are five hot teas you should add to your self-care routine.
Chamomile is a tea best enjoyed with a cozy blanket and a good book. It’s also a good solution for any sleeping troubles or period cramps! It’s an herbal tea, so it’s naturally caffeine free, as well as calming.
If you’re feeling anxious or stressed, try Bigelow Cozy Chamomile Tea.
The Celestial Seasonings Decaf Sweet Coconut Thai Chai is one of my personal favorite self-care drinks. It’s the perfect tea to drink after a meal or as you unwind from the day. Though this tea is sweet and fragrant, it won’t keep you up for hours since it doesn’t have any caffeine! Pro tip: Pour in a little bit of milk to make it creamier.
Hot milk tea
A major part of self-care is treating yourself! For a relaxing dessert, order a hot milk tea from your favorite boba shop, instead of the typical iced milk tea. The smell is stronger and the tea flavor shines through, since there isn’t ice to water it down. If you’re craving something sweet, try ordering an earl gray milk tea or an almond milk tea! Don’t forget to ask for boba and grab a spoon, instead of a straw!
Warning: Milk teas have caffeine! I suggest drinking it earlier during the day or skipping it completely if you’re starting your self-care practice at night.
Jasmine tea is a great midday pick-me-up. It’s the perfect cup of tea to brew as you put on a sheet mask or reflect and write in your journal. It’s also packed with antioxidants and can help improve your metabolism, so it’s good for the soul and body!
My personal favorite is Yamamotoyama Jasmine Tea.
My idea of a perfect day of self-care includes sleeping in, doing some yoga, meditating and drinking a warm cup of green tea as soon as I get out of bed! My favorite green tea to wake up to is Harney & Sons Green Tea with Coconut. It’s sweet, refreshing and fragrant, without being too strong or overpowering. Green tea is also a natural energy booster. Unlike other caffeinated drinks like coffee, a cup of green tea will wake you up without weighing you down.
