One of my favorite things about summer, is how the makeup gets lighter and the colors get brighter! The sunshine and heat always inspires me to change up my beauty routine, experiment with different shades and techniques, and test out other products. In this week’s post, I am sharing my current summer beauty products and how I created two looks with them! I’m also showing off my favorite trend, so far this season: off-the-shoulder tops.
Skin:
In both looks, I primed my face with Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer and then applied Mac Pro Longer Foundation onto my skin with a Beauty Blender. I highly suggest everyone use Smashbox’s primer! It feels light and comfortable on my skin, which is very important in the summertime when the sun is beating down on you! The MAC foundation was mandatory for me to achieve an even and dewy, sunkissed look. It evened out my skin and hid my blemishes, giving me an airbrushed affect.
Eyebrows & Eyes:
For my eyebrows, I lightly filled them in with NYX Pomade and kept them in place using Anastasia Brow Gel. When I think of summer makeup, I always think of shades of bronze and gold, which is why I used my MAC In The Flesh Palette. I love all of the classic, nude shadows and think they are the perfect colors for summer! Since gold is a bit flashy for both of these looks, I decided to go with a simple bronze smokey eye, which I blended with my fingers! Blending with brushes would’ve given me a more polished look, but I liked the natural, fresh effect I was able to achieve just by ditching my brushes. It was also a lot quicker!
For eyeliner, I tried out this Eyeko Liquid Eyeliner Pen, which I got in an Ipsy bag, and absolutely fell in love with! I had never used liquid eyeliner before (I’m a gel liner type of gal!), yet it was totally easy for me to wing my liner with this pen. I liked how controlled and smooth the product was when I drew on my wings! Of course, I had to throw on some Eyelure Lashes (No. 117!) to enhance my eyes. I cannot live without falsies; I’m addicted! These ones from Eyelure are my go-to lashes; they’re comfortable, easy to apply, and affordable.
Day: Peachy Keen
I wanted to create an everyday makeup look that was flirty and chic, yet effortless, which is why the colors and tones used are light, peachy shades. I decided to skip contour and just apply some bronzer on my cheeks and a swipe of highlight on my cheekbones. For my lips, I used this super creamy Pacifica Lipstick which I also got from an Ipsy bag. I’ve been using a lot of Pacifica products lately, and I’m seriously obsessed with the quality of this Vegan brand.
Night: Lady in Red
This is a more glam look, designed for a night out. (But of course, it could also be worn during the day!) Every beauty lover needs to find their own perfect shade of red lipstick and I think I found mine in this Colourpop Matte Lipstick called “Love Bug”. On the website, it is described as a “rich mahogany” and displayed as an orange color, but on me, it’s a bright red! I then contoured with this el.f. Contour Palette and finished the look off with a dash of the incredibly pigmented Hikari Cosmetics Bronzer on my cheeks.
Beauty isn’t something I usually talk about on my blog, but this post was requested! I hope you found my makeup ideas to be insightful and refreshing! Let me know what your summer makeup routine is like! 🙂
xoxo,
