Here it is, my first favorites post of the year! I know, it looks like I totally skipped over the month of December… But, this January favorites post does include some faves from last month. I did not have enough favorite items to make two separate posts, so that’s why I’ve “skipped” the December favorites! Now, on to the actual post!
Fashion + Beauty
- Circle Lenses
I have unapologetically caved in to the circle lens hype! I was especially attracted to these because I have gigantic eyes and love the retro vintage vibe that these glasses give off. The pair I am wearing is from a vendor at the Melrose Flea Market (which I highly suggest checking out if you’re in the LA area!), but I’m sure you can find them at any store that sells “hipster” eye-wear, like Urban Outfitters.
My pin obsession is soooooo real. I’m super addicted to finding unique pins at flea markets and small boutiques, and love how these accessories are a subtle and easy way to express your personality.
- Clutches + Backpacks
This month, I decided to start using backpacks and clutches more! The backpack is from Primark and the clutch was a gift from my roomie!
Falsies have definitely been my latest obsession and I cannot seem to stop myself from buying new ones! When Weylie, one of my favorite youtubers, announced she was collaborating with e.l.f. to release her own pair of lashes, I knew I had to try it! I love how bold, glam, and flirty the lashes are, and how well it shapes my eyes and makes them pop out. The only downside is that they are now sold out, although Weylie is working on trying to create more lashes, and that the band is quite stiff and thick, making them a lot more difficult than most lashes, to apply.
This stuff smells so good! I love the rosemary scent, but the best part of these products is how soft and healthy they leave your hair feeling! I didn’t really find the elixir to be that impactful for my hair, but I definitely suggest you try the shampoo and conditioner! They work perfectly together, especially for dry or damaged colored hair!
[I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.]
Yes, I have added a food section to my favorites. As a self-proclaimed foodie (I’m totally kidding), I figured I’d start sharing some of the very instagram-worthy foods I’ve been obsessed with!
- Honey Lavender Ice Cream, Salt & Straw
I’m not even a huge ice cream fan and was pretty hesitant about how pricey this ice cream shop is. I read a billion reviews about it and eventually had to see what the hype was all about! When I got there, the line went around the building itself, so my expectations were definitely high. But I was not disappointed! The workers were super friendly and let you try as many flavors as you like. I eventually chose the flavor honey lavender, which was very fragrant, but light and delicate tasting. It’s honestly my new favorite ice cream flavor! If you’re in LA and need your ice cream craving satisfied, make sure to check out Salt & Straw!
- Acai Bowls, Amazebowls
LA is known for being incredibly healthy and big on “eating clean” (i.e.: pressed juices, detox cleanses, crazy salads), so it’s not a surprise I’ve developed an acai bowl obsession!
Books + Activities
- Lullabies, Lang Leav
I’ve always been a fan of Lang Leav’s work and lately, her book Lullabies has been my go-to read. I’ve been reading it during breaks in between classes and whenever I need some writing inspiration. The poems in this book make my soul feel content, because they are so relatable and enchanting.
Winter quarter has been extremely stressful, especially during midterms week. To cope and deal with my stress, I started doing yoga two times a week! Yoga has made me feel more at peace and in control spiritually, while testing and improving my flexibility, balance, and strength. Meditation has also been a major key this quarter, and is something I recommend everyone to start doing! Just closing your eyes, emptying your mind, and simply focusing on your breathing for a few minutes can truly make such a difference.
- SweetSexySavage, Kehlani
Kehlani is a queen and I’ve literally been playing her album on repeat, every morning when I get ready and do my makeup. My favorite songs on the album are Piece of Mind and Escape.
